About

Grady  Woodcraft LLC is a small, single-man shop based in Lakewood, Colorado.

Cory Grady, Craftsman.

I began woodworking at a very young age. My father is a very handy guy and I witnessed a lot of fixing and remodeling in the family garage growing up. That is where my passion began. I started small, using hand tools and scrap lumber to try and fixate my desire to build or to provide some monstrosity for a Mother's Day present. I progressed over the years, adding new techniques and equipment along the way. I started out using some of my father's tools. When my necessity or desires outgrew what was already in the garage, I was lucky enough to have supportive parents who bolted onto the shop with holiday gifts and garage sale finds. Many of those early tools still see regular action in my current well-equipped shop.  Early on, I received basic instruction from my father. I was also a pretty big fan of The New Yankee Workshop on PBS while growing up, which exposed me to the various techniques and tools that are found in a serious woodshop.  For the most part, however, I am self taught through years of making sawdust.

I believe furniture and home goods should be made for the long haul. I also believe they should be functional and fit the space they were intended for (both in proportion and style). These can be difficult to find in products from large manufacturers who mass produce their items. I'm hoping to provide some inspiration and alternative to the presswood  furnishings that many people put in their homes with some well-made, solid wood pieces. Each piece is unqiue and small scale crafted. I never use published plans and design all of my own work. Being a Colorado native, I have been lucky enough to spend my life in one of the most scenic parts of America. Many of my works are reflective of the tradition and outdoor lifestyle that defines Colorado. Where possible, I attempt to source wood (specifically beetle kill pine and aspen) from local sources or reclaimed/recycled sources.
